Meet
Philip A. Young
I’m a camera operator and FAA Part 107 drone pilot based in Maryville, Tennessee, just outside Knoxville. I work with production companies, agencies and direct clients across the country.
My experience includes multi-camera interviews, documentary production, live sports, aviation and specialty-camera work. I’ve worked on productions for Porsche, the U.S. Navy and organizations across commercial aviation, flight training and aircraft manufacturing. Work I’ve been part of has appeared on Amazon Prime, NBC Sports and Golf Channel.
More recently, I worked underwater on a 115-foot camera dolly for the Enhanced Games in Las Vegas. I’ve also been a certified scuba diver for nearly 25 years, so working underwater isn’t completely foreign territory for me.
I fly conventional and FPV drones and work with vehicle-mounted cameras, sliders and custom rigs when a production needs something a little different.
I enjoy complicated shoots and figuring out how to make a shot work. I’m probably happiest working in odd environments, whether that means underwater, around aircraft, on a mountain or somewhere a camera normally isn’t supposed to be.
I also genuinely enjoy crew life. I like showing up prepared, working with good people and being part of a production where everyone is there to do their job well.
At the end of the day, I’m there to operate the camera, solve the problems in front of me and get the footage we came for.
